One of the major appealing characteristics of todays chandeliers, are their versatility. A kitchen can be transformed into a high-class dining area with the addition of the right chandelier. A large bathroom can be given an air of elegance with the installation of a chandelier. Some homeowners will even use a chandelier in the master bedroom to give it that special feeling.
The living room is a spot where you chill, interact with friends and family, enjoy a good book, watch a good movie, or formally entertain a bunch of guests. While there are several more purposes a living room serves, these are most important. So, the lighting needs to be flexible in order to get the maximum out of it; get the lighting right, and you'll have a room that looks different for every occasion.
Every lighting fixture has some purpose, and no one fixture can fulfill ALL purposes, though one fixture can fulfill more than one purpose. So, the technique to implement here is light layering, i.e., putting together different types of lights so that your room is perfectly illuminated. While doing so, it is important that natural light sources also be taken into account to avoid overdoing the light and creating a harsh, uncomfortable environment. There are four types of lighting.
Quick Tip: If possible, instead of ceiling fixtures, go for muted floor lighting (possible even with small LED lights that you can just place on the floor). The effect will be more dramatic.
