One of my favorite topics is the chandelier because of its history as a method of lighting that was used before the sixteenth century. The earliest chandeliers were very basic, almost primitive devices that involved two pieces of wood connected together to form a cross. A spike was inserted at each end to hold the candles and a rope or chain was connected to the crosspiece and then suspended from the ceiling. As a former antique dealer, Ive found that nearly all of the earliest chandeliers were destroyed and very few authentic examples remain in existence today.
Experts suggest that any room should have 3 different sources of light that include soft, bright, and task lighting. One light source is rarely enough, even in smaller living rooms. You need more than one source and more than one type of light, and you need more than one fixture to exude the charm that you desire of your living room, quite similar to one you may have seen on your favorite dcor website or in your favorite decorating magazine. So, think floor lamps, table lamps, wall sconces, recessed lights, chandeliers, pendant lamps, and reading lights. Remember that any one of these sources will rarely be able to provide sufficient lighting for any given space, but when used in combination, will lend a luxurious appeal even to the smallest of spaces.
Because chandeliers normally hang fairly high up in a building or room, its often assumed that they cant get as dirty as they would if they hung lower, closer to the floor. But in fact, they get just as dirty as every other fixture or piece of furniture in your business from specks of floating dust and debris that adhere to the many horizontal surfaces on the chandelier.
For a modern house, the best choice you can go for is the drop ceiling. These ceilings are lower in height as compared to the other wooden and sculpted high ceilings and thus, make the house look smaller in size. They are also used to give the room a very modern, elegant, and cozy look with light arrangements placed on them. Usually used as a bedroom or office ceilings, the designs are also used in kitchens and drawing rooms of many modern homes. They are quite hassle free and are flat surfaced, sometimes rough and brightly colored to give the room a unique lighting effect.
